Manadon House Wedding : Marc and Robyn22

I haven’t lived back in Devon very long, so most of my 2010 weddings are still around the rest of the country – so for Robyn and Marc’s wedding it was a real treat to just jump in the car and head down the road to Plymouth!

I remember the first time I met Robyn and Marc – we got together in a coffee shop in Exeter to show them some albums, and when they walked in before I even knew who they were I said to Lee that I hope it’s those guys we’re meeting! They seemed so laid back and rock n roll and I knew straightaway that their wedding would be exactly the same – fabulous!

The whole wedding day was held at Manadon House, a gorgeous privately owned manor house which day to day is a real family home – one of whom is a gorgeous cream Maine Coon pussycat, who myself and my second shooter Donna Sharpe got to know quite well during our dinner break!

Marc and Robyn’s theme was New York, as this was where they got engaged and also where they are currently on honeymoon! The colours they used were city chic grey and yellow and they had gorgeous customised stationary and invitations in a vintage letterpress style from Hello Lucky. I was especially taken aback by the amazing flowers created by Amanda Randell from Randell Cox – they made such a great backdrop for the ceremony, group shots and bride and groom photos!

You might also spot their matching tattoos which are jigsaw pieces that fit into one another – cute! I definitely needed to make sure I got a photo of these because they were done during their engagement shoot a few months ago at their friend Neil’s Dust n Bones Tattoo Studio in Plymouth and I got to witness Robyn’s pain first hand! They do look fantastic though – well worth the agony! Marc even ran with the theme, getting jigsaw cufflinks – their attention to detail was amazing!

The cake by Rosanne Hollowell definitely warrants a very special mention. It’s unusual to see a really unique wedding cake when you’re at a wedding every weekend, but this was so unique and lovely, and matched the feel of the day perfectly.

Also I don’t work with videographers that often, but I loved working with Memories on Film from Cornwall. Marc and Robyn had booked them for their super 8 film, and I just know it’s going to be awesome!

Laura and Harry’s Eco Friendly backyard wedding in Black Dog, Devon7

Laura and Harry are from London and chose to have their eco-friendly, humanist ceremony in the back garden of Laura’s Dad’s home in Black Dog, near Crediton in Devon.

The whole day was really intimate, super relaxed and fun, and was filled with a literary theme of A Midsummer’s Night’s Dream as both Laura and Harry are keen readers and the wedding itself was held on Midsummer’s day!

Laura looked stunning in her vintage dress, which was bought from Fur Coat No Knickers in London. It’s so great to see brides choosing dresses and other details completely unique to them and I *heart* this shop!!

The ceremony was held outdoors and all the guests sat on benches – and the weather was really kind, which was a big bonus! As part of the ceremony, Laura and Harry also planted a tree in the garden and invited all their guests to fill it in with earth – a lovely lasting memory for the two of them every time they visit Laura’s Dad!

For the portraits, Laura, Harry and I headed off in my car to make use of a fabulous textured barn door just down the road and then the hedgerows and a field of corn provided gorgeous backdrops en route back to the party!

The reception was held in giant yurts and was catered by the wonderful Utterly Sexy Cafe, who I’ve worked with on a few weddings now. They did a stellar job and provided just the perfect atmosphere with the fresh and healthy food and vintage china table decor. Amanda from Utterly Sexy Cafe also created the gorgeous wedding cake, which was made custom for the couple based on their wedding theme. The stunning flower arrangements were by the fab Joanna Game.

The White House, Chillington Wedding : Rob and Sam9

Last weekend I was in South Devon for Rob and Sam’s stunning wedding at the fabulous White House in Chillington, a small village near Dartmouth.

Sam got ready at celebrity chef John Burton Race‘s lovely New Angel rooms in Dartmouth. I shot The New Angel for Devon Life Magazine a few months ago, so it was great to be back!

Being seven months pregnant Sam looked absolutely radiant. :) Sam’s choice of dress was also absolutely perfect – the beautiful Summer of Love by Charlotte Balbier.

The road between Dartmouth to Chillington was absolutely incredible, taking in some of the best views of the coastline en route – what a lovely route to take to your wedding!

The White House in Chillington is a fantastic wedding venue for an intimate and relaxed vibe and it was made even nicer because of the great weather which saw all the guests enjoying the large grassy garden and swings! I loved all the cool little touches around the hotel like antlers, fab artwork and the lovely cool conservatory where the yummy meal was served.

The flowers who were by the lovely Emma Vowles, based just down the road in Totnes, also really added to the lovely laid back atmosphere. I loved the driftwood hearts and wild flowers in jugs – very coastal and summertime!

We shot a few photos around the house and gardens, and then after the meal Sam, Rob and I headed down to Slapton Sands, a beach halfway between Dartmouth and Chillington. We shot some fun pictures with their camper van and went down to the sea for a few more portraits.

Before heading on to the pub in Dartmouth to meet all the evening guests, we also popped into the cocktail lounge at The New Angel to do some indoor portraits. I particularly love the opulent gold walls which made an awesome backdrop!

After a few drinks at the pub, I headed over to the boat and grabbed some candid shots of guests before they headed off to party the night away on a river cruise around Dartmouth for the evening do.

Eco friendly weddings in Devon – Green Union3

If you’re into taking care of the environment then lovely Devon-based website Green Union is somewhere you’ll love browsing around for eco friendly weddings!

My good friend Vicky from Vintage Teasets paid me a visit today, and we decided it would be rather marvelous to also head off the beaten track and down the rural Devon country lanes to visit the lovely Rosie who runs Green Union.

We were especially impressed with her amazing lemon polenta cake that was warm out of the oven – yummm! And enjoyed meeting all her fluffy chickens! Of course I had to do some photography while I was there! :)

I’m going to be a Devon Wedding Photographer!3

Exciting news all round in the Parsons camp!

First bit of news is that I’ve just launched my new commercial photography site! You can access it at http://corporate.rosieparsons.com and just like my wedding photography, it aims to provide something a little bit different to the average corporate photography sites!

I’ve had a lot of fun putting it together with Lee and getting all the images for it. We had a fantastic few days in Dartmouth shooting at Browns Hotel and then at celebrity chef John Burton-Race’s gorgeous place The New Angel.

I’ve also been working with solicitor’s firm Hartnell Chanot & Partners in Exeter on their new staff profiles for their website. My father is a partner there and it’s been great to work with family!

The other bit of news is that we are moving home!

If you’ve been following me for some time, you might remember that we only moved to Bristol about 6 months ago – so it’s been quite a stressful year, but Lee has got a new job in Exeter doing web design and we are really excited to be moving to this wonderful part of the country!

I’ve already been along to a couple of networking meetings for Devon folk and am looking forward to meeting many more. There certainly seems to be a thriving social networking scene down here on Twitter and I’ll be heading along to the Exeter TAGS tweetup on Thursday.

I grew up in Exeter, so it’ll be fantastic to be back and to meet up with old friends. The city has changed a lot since I left for University aged 18 (almost ten years ago now!) – the new Princesshay shopping centre looks fantastic and I know Lee and I will probably be found in the Apple Store most weekends! :)

We’re already setting up home down here, but are still receiving post at our Bristol address for the next few weeks.

Look forward to seeing you all for cream teas down here soon! :D
