Clarabows Fascinator Workshop at Caffe Clifton, Bristol

My very talented and imaginative friend Vicky Rowe, who runs Vintage Teasets in Bristol has always been a dab hand at making her own hats and fascinators. She’s recently developed this side of her business into her new website www.clarabows.co.uk (created by my husband Lee!) and has started hosting the most fabulous fascinator workshops at gorgeous venues across the UK.

I joined her at Caffe Clifton in Bristol this Monday to shoot some images at one of her workshops for her new site, and what’s more I even got a chance to try my own hand at making a fascinator (a lovely little teal green number!).

I’ll be heading up to London with her for the next date which is a Mad Hatters Tea Party afternoon workshop on Sunday March 7th at uber cute Hampstead tearooms Bake-a-boo www.bake-a-boo.com/. We also plan to take in afternoon tea at the brilliant Sketch as a birthday treat (I’ll be 28 in two weeks time – eeek!).

For all the details of Vicky’s London workshop check out www.bake-a-boo.com/workshops – it would be great to see you there!

1920s vintage teaparty wedding – Adam and Vicky’s

I was really excited to shoot at my friend Vicky Vale’s beeeeautiful 1920s vintage teaparty wedding over the water at Treowen House, Monmouthshire as she wed her beau Adam!

Vicky runs a vintage crockery hire company in Bristol, and amazingly all the crockery set out for the wedding belongs to her (plus the hard-working gal even did another wedding hire the same day!).

Fortunately the weather held off long enough for a touching outdoors ceremony, with all the guests dressed up to the nines in their 1920s outfits! The bridesmaids also looked awesome in their cool flapper gowns!

Vicky has such a great creative imagination and this was shown throughout all the amazing details she’d thought of to delight her guests : beautiful wild flowers in china teacups, fairies caught in jam jars and appearing in other random spots around the house, 1920s flapper bands for guests who’d forgotten theirs and the most unique table plan I’ve ever seen, hanging down from the ceiling!

Vicky looked stunning in her 1920s dress and authentic 1920s jewellery and Adam looked absolutely great in his top hat and tails! It was a very emotional and moving day, really lovely!

Have a fabulous honeymoon Vicky and Adam!!

If you’re planning a vintage themed wedding the place to head for a dash of inspiration is the blog of Bristol-based Clara Bows, who herself is getting married in just about ten days time!

I love checking out all her latest posts, especially as she has tutorials on hosting a 1920s themed event – including hairstyles, makeup, dresses etc, which is great if like me you wouldn’t really know where to start! Clara B also helpfully hires out her amazing assortment of vintage crockery for weddings and other events that fancy having something unique and fun!
