Sketch London – Recommended Wedding Photographer

Yesterday I was at my favourite London wedding venue Sketch on Conduit Street. Filled with fantastic rooms with quirky and imaginative interiors, If I had an unlimited budget I would design my own home to look the same. Awesome cool lampshades with skulls on, huge industrial sculptures of light, paint flowing down the stairs and intriguing pieces of modern art all over the place – it’s a fabulous venue for any special occasion but even more amazing for wedding photos!

I’ve been a recommended wedding photographer at Sketch for a few months now, and the shoot took place around the building just before they opened for dinner. Most of the rooms don’t see much natural light, so my flashgun was put to good use! The images will be used by their PR and marketing department.

Clarabows Fascinator Workshop at Caffe Clifton, Bristol

My very talented and imaginative friend Vicky Rowe, who runs Vintage Teasets in Bristol has always been a dab hand at making her own hats and fascinators. She’s recently developed this side of her business into her new website www.clarabows.co.uk (created by my husband Lee!) and has started hosting the most fabulous fascinator workshops at gorgeous venues across the UK.

I joined her at Caffe Clifton in Bristol this Monday to shoot some images at one of her workshops for her new site, and what’s more I even got a chance to try my own hand at making a fascinator (a lovely little teal green number!).

I’ll be heading up to London with her for the next date which is a Mad Hatters Tea Party afternoon workshop on Sunday March 7th at uber cute Hampstead tearooms Bake-a-boo www.bake-a-boo.com/. We also plan to take in afternoon tea at the brilliant Sketch as a birthday treat (I’ll be 28 in two weeks time – eeek!).

For all the details of Vicky’s London workshop check out www.bake-a-boo.com/workshops – it would be great to see you there!

John Burton Race and Devon Life Magazine

About a month ago I headed down to Dartmouth to photograph celebrity chef John Burton Race for my first Devon Life Magazine assignment.

I got to sit in on the interview John did with Devon Life journalist Harriet Mellor which was insightful and fun, and then we had a great time shooting some photos down on his boat in the Dart Marina along with John’s film crew! During the interview and photoshoot John was filming for a Channel Five series called Celebrity Quitters, which has just started airing this week on Tuesday nights. I was also filmed (yikes!) while shooting my portraits for the magazine, so my good self may even make an appearance later in the series!!

The interview with John is a six page feature and is published in the current issue of Devon Life Magazine, which is out now!

Real Life Weddings in Cosmo Bride

It’s always lovely to see photographs from real life weddings featured as inspiration for future brides, and this month two of my weddings from 2009 are in fab wedding magazine Cosmo Bride!

Vicky and Adam who had their glorious 1920s art deco wedding at Treowen House are featured, followed by the colourful wedding of Shella and Derek who got married in Henley on Thames in September.

If you’re eagle-eyed, you may also spot me in a couple of other places in the magazine as I photographed the images for the interview with Kat from Rock n Roll Bride, and I’m interviewed as part of Cosmo’s article on “Learn to Love the Camera”! :)

Eco friendly weddings in Devon – Green Union

If you’re into taking care of the environment and want to use eco friendly suppliers for your wedding day, then Devon-based site Green Union is somewhere you absolutely have to check out.

My good friend Vicky from Vintage Teasets paid me a visit today, and we decided it would be rather marvelous to also head off the beaten track and down the Devonshire country lanes to visit the lovely Rosie who runs Green Union.

We were especially impressed with her amazing lemon pollenta cake that was warm out of the oven – yummm! And enjoyed meeting all her fluffy chickens!

Combe House Hotel – Devon wedding photography shoot

Combe House Hotel near Honiton, Devon was the venue for a fantastic wedding photography shoot for myself with the extremely talented wedding stylist Vicky Rowe from vintageteasets.co.uk on Tuesday!

The ever fabulous Sarah Brock was on hand to create a flawless 1920s inspired makeup look and Becky Simpson from Hair By Becks @ Thairapy Bristol did an amazing job of vintage style bridal hairstyles. Vicky set up the dining room with a veritable feast of era-themed favours and ideas, while we had the luxury of two amazing florists – Bella & Fifi Flowers and Julie from Floriture who created some bridal designs and floral table decorations with the 1920s in mind. I must also mention the beautiful little cakes made especially for the shoot by Clifton Cakes – hard to resist, but we did get the chance to enjoy them at the end and they were every bit as good as they looked!

Though it was raining in parts, we also popped outside as Combe House had organised a vintage car for us to shoot with as well. There were so many great areas to photograph inside the house – we started by shooting in the two dining areas, then moved into the grand hall entrance. During a spot of lunch I got some great shots of the girls against all the copper pots and pans and then we headed up to shoot in some of the stunning hotel bedrooms, including the famous Linen Suite which has been featured in Tatler Magazine.

Many thanks to all the amazing designers and suppliers who worked with us on the photoshoot and I hope you like the results! I’ll be posting Monday’s shoot from Mamhead House very soon!
