Shella and Derek knew they wanted a special venue for their wedding, right by the water – and they had two amazing locations – The River and Rowing Museum and Temple Island Meadow both in Henley on Thames!
The ceremony was held at Henley’s River and Rowing Museum in full view of the river Thames and all its boats floating past. Shella and Derek had made a thousand origami little paper birds to decorate the place and they had a traditional Chinese tea ceremony immediately after the civil ceremony.
All the guests were then transported down the river by boat from Hobbs of Henley to Temple Island Meadow, where a huge indian style teepee from Beautiful World Tents was set up right on the banks of the river. Shella and Derek had organised so many fun things to keep their guests entertained – I especially loved the photobooth which had everyone in stitches!
The interior of the teepee was incredible. Shella loves colour, and it was so fun, funky and vibrant! There were loads of little touches like postcards from all the guests (the RSVPs), a map showing all the places the couple had travelled together and the chillout area was so cool!
The wedding cake was a selection of amazing cupcakes from http://www.animacupcakes.com/ and Shella’s stunning dress was Tabitha by Charlotte Balbier.
After a yummy South East Asian dinner and the speeches, everyone headed outside into the night air to set off paper lanterns. They looked magical floating off into the sky… until one got stuck in a tree that is, and then I saw Derek’s face begin to imagine a huge tree alight with flames… Eek! Fortunately it burned itself out, but it was a bit touch and go!
Derek and Shella had their own cute red heart lantern and I think the image at the end of the night of them watching it arise into the sky is one of my favourites from the whole day.
Hope you enjoy the images guys!

That photobooth is pure genius – wish I had that at our wedding! Is that a ‘Rosie special’?
Lol, noo – actually the bride set that up, all her wedding was DIY – it’s great isn’t it!
These are lovely images and it looks like a terrific location too! Love those shoes too! You did a great job of capturing the details and essence of this lovely wedding.
Hi,
I just found your photos (beautiful) and blog (more beautiful photos!) through “Ruffled”. I wrote a quick little post about the Ruffled blog and used one of your photos as sampling of the lovely, inspirational photos found there.
I subscribed to this blog via reader and look forward to seeing your future work.
Thank you and good luck.
Andrea
wow! what a great wedding! great photos! can you tell me the brand of the wedding dress this beautiful bride is wearing? it’s so pretty!
Hi Nigel – thanks!
Rabbitlapin – The dress is by Charlotte Balbier and is called Tabitha. Hope that helps!
Now that looks like a fun wedding! I love the coloured socks! Lol! Great colours throughout and very cool moments and details.
This wedding looks amazing – it looks like everyone is having great fun, gorgeous details and this is beautifully shot. They are really fantastic photos I will be posting about your work on my blog. Can I just ask where the pirates came into it all?:-)
Hiya Little Miss Wedding! The pirates were actually totally non-wedding related but just sailed by the wedding and waved at everyone – completely random but lots of fun!!
Thanks Mark!
What an amazing wedding. The attention to details is fantastic!
You’ve captured it perfectly Rosie
I just came across your blog from rock and roll bride and I have to say, This wedding is stunning! I absolutely love your detail shots and the couple look so relaxed and happy, absolutely gorgeous!
Hi Rosie,
Can I just start by saying, I LOVE YOUR WORK, its amazing, I really wish I had known about you before
I have a bit of a cheeky request, but am actually banging my head against the wall, you know the photobooth that was set up in Derek & Shella’s wedding, I am desperatley trying to find somewhere that I can buy/hire a simliar would you happen to know where she got it from?
I would be eternally grateful Rosie.
Fingers crossed and best wishes,
Emma

Hi Rosie, your work is fantastic. I love how you capture all the special moments so creatively – very different from the run of the mill photography you see everyday. I too have a request similar to Emma’s (above). I’ve been looking everywhere for a photo booth like the one used at this wedding. Would you have the name of this supplier or at least what these type of structures are called? (as opposed to a “booth”)Look forward to any help. many thanks
Hi Dani, Hi Emma!
Thanks for your lovely comments about my work! The Bride, Shella created this from scratch – very talented lady!! I think she just bought the material and transfers and then the props and put it all together!
I love your work, its so fresh and funky. Dont change a thing
